Ash

Sebastian A. Bach The most aurally accessible bits are the most emotionally taxing. Title track at once sums up & mucks up the whole affair with its campy delivery & lyrics (“Scatter my ash in the mountains so I can be part of it all”). Songs wrestle with one another, making competing claims on the artist's intent. Nothing about this is easy. Demands time & attention. Heaps rewards on the listener when it is good & ready. When? Who knows? But the closer says it best: “Centenarian or embryo, it’s on its way now." Favorite track: Easy Doesn't.

John Brownell I've had this album in my regular rotation for a couple weeks now and I keep hearing new things. My favorite track has shifted over listens - Never Never Never is probably the most fun song to sing along with, Exit Interview will make you cry every time once you realize what it's about, but today my favorite is the closer, Tolerable Heaviness. It's a bit disturbing to be graphically and hysterically reminded of our looming demise, but he does it in a way that is motivational. Buy this album. Favorite track: The Tolerable Heaviness of Nonexistence.
Get Set Go

Get Set Go Okay, okay, I very rarely select favorite tracks that are the first song on the album. And the single, Never Never Never is certainly a favorite. But, g'damn, if Eric didn't just nail the heartbreak and anticipatory fear of losing a beloved pet to euthanasia in this song. My eyes well with tears just thinking about it. Oh, this is Mike TV of Get Set Go, by the way. I love this album. Like, in a deep, soul-searing way. Favorite track: Exit Interview.

thewandering Eric's Lea's Ash sorta makes me want to cry. But in a good way. Despite the size, tattoos, and criminal record, I still get moved. Ain't easy. But I love lilt, and I applaud authenticity. (And clever turns of phrase.)
wormstewmelike

wormstewmelike I can only choose one favorite song? I love the title track "Ash"? The single "Never Never Never" is catchy AF. "This is the Sound"? Brilliant. Okay, I'll choose the first song "Exit Interview" as a representation of all of my favorite tracks. Like all of Eric's songs, it's filled with brilliant musical twists and turns. Add moving lyrics to that and you'll surely want to listen to the rest of the album just so you can go back and listen again. Favorite track: Exit Interview.

about

Ten more whimsical little offerings, this time on the theme of death and decay in all its various flavors! I can't believe no one has tried to tackle this topic before.
